1. Tourism & Travel Original Vintage Posters

Piscina di Sarteano, 1962, by Athoy.

Throwback to the Swinging 60s with this stunning poster designed by Athoy in 1962 to advertise a public pool in Sarteano, Sienna in Italy. The gorgeous mid-century artwork transports you to the early 60's era bathed in sunshine.

Miami - Delta Air Lines, 1975, by Jack Laycox.

California based artist Jack Laycox is best known for his commercial artworks between the 40-70s for the Donald Art Company and these series of watercolour artworks for Delta. 

This poster advertising the destination of Miami, Florida is in mint condition on thick art stock paper. The brilliantly designed piece is a wonderful piece of aviation and advertising history from the golden age of air travel in the mid-century. The vibrant colours on the buildings show the sun drenching the waterfront with the sailboats passing by.

TWA - Los Angeles, 1959, by David Klein.

This original poster was created in 1959 for Howard Hughes’ Trans World Airlines promoting their routes to Los Angeles, California. Illustrated by influential American artist David Klein, this design features a wonderfully stylized view of the California sunshine over the San Gabriel bell tower. 

Hughes and TWA collaborated with Klein on many posters during the height of the golden-era of aviation from the 50’s through to the 70’s. These posters have become synonymous with that golden, mid-Century era of design. The orange and yellow palette are pure summer and golden California sun.

4. Original Vintage Art Posters

David Hockney - A Bigger Picture RA Exhibition, 2012.

The Royal Academy exhibition which this poster accompanied in 2012 featured 50 years of landscape work by the British artist David Hockney.

The design of the poster suggests the scale and spectacle of many of the works on show which almost 600,000 people came to see. As with many Hockney artworks, the vibrant colours of the poster scream summertime and you can't help but dream of warm months.

Roy Lichtenstein - Girl With Ball - Moma, 2003. 

Girl with Ball is a 1961 painting by Roy Lichtenstein. It is an oil on canvas Pop art work that is now in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, after being owned for several decades by Philip Johnson. It is one of Lichtenstein's earliest Pop art works and is known for its source, which is a newspaper ad that ran for several decades and which was among Lichtenstein's earliest works sourced from pop culture.

Roy Fox Lichtenstein was an American pop artist. During the 1960s, along with Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and James Rosenquist among others, he became a leading figure in the new art movement. His work defined the premise of pop art through parody. Inspired by the comic strip, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions that documented while they parodied, often in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Depicting a woman in a bathing suit holding a ball above her head, this piece evokes nostalgia of trips to the beach or the local pool.

5. Travel Art Prints

Amandine Gaubert, Beaux-Arts graduated, is an illustrator and designer who lives and works in the south-east of France. Her work is inspired by Mediterranean culture, legendary sites of French Riviera, retro PLM posters and works of Picasso and Matisse. Her style is characterized by collage technique with stiff papers of bright and saturated colors. Her idea is to create relief and give a unique character to each composition. The bright palette, landscape layers of the balcony, the trees, the ocean and the bright blue sky are beautiful reminders of summertime. This depiction of the gardens of Menton in the French Rivieira almost allows you to feel the breeze on your face.

Her latest work is experimental and intuitive, as she tries to create minimal and geometric posters that can convey a particular space. Depicting the famous Iceberg Pool in Sydney's Bondi Beach, the great use of scale with the people on the edges takes you to the scene and just makes you want a dip.
