Collection: ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1950s POSTERS

The 1950s sit at a fascinating point in poster history. Cinema was competing with television, international travel was becoming more accessible and advertising embraced increasingly confident illustration and graphic design. The result is a decade that can move from Hollywood spectacle and science fiction to railway, airline and exhibition posters without ever feeling visually predictable.

This collection brings together original posters dating from the 1950s. Look beyond age alone: country, format, artist, release and the history of the individual copy can all make two posters from the same decade very different things to collect. We set those details out on each listing wherever they are known.
