Waldemar Świerzy was one of the leading figures of the Polish School of Posters, a loose movement that gave artists extraordinary freedom to reinterpret films, theatre, music and cultural events. Rather than illustrating a subject literally, Świerzy often built a poster around expressive drawing, colour and character.

His long-running Jazz Greats series is a particularly enjoyable example, turning musicians including Miles Davis and Ray Charles into bold graphic portraits. This collection brings together original posters featuring Świerzy's work, with the date, event or subject, format and condition described individually.
