What Makes An Art Print?
We've now got 100s of art prints from a hugely diverse range of artists from all over the globe. We like to think we have something for everyone - from surreal and abstract, to travel and landscape, to minimalist and monotone.
So what exactly is an art print, where is the value, and what makes ours different?
What is an art print?
An art print is a specialised, authentic and authorised reproduction of a piece of original art. They are differentiated by being matched by colour, form, and tone to the original piece. Art prints have seen a continued rise in popularity over the past decades for a number of reasons. Prints give artists a way of selling their work to a wider audience, and likewise gives more people an opportunity to buy, especially at a lower price than the original piece, or weren't able to purchase at the time of availability.
Where is the value?
We offer art prints as either open-run or limited-edition prints. Limited edition prints are numbered and limited to a certain amount of prints, creating a finite supply, raising the scarcity of the piece. With this in mind, limited-edition prints cost a higher premium than open-run prints. We offer both options across our collection, and also offer a wide range of shapes and sizes of prints.
What makes ours different?
We offer the highest quality giclee prints. Giclee printing is large scale printing inkjet spray printing, with high quality resolution, paper, ink, and specialised printer equipment. The paper we print on is acid and Lignin-free, an age resistant paper and is printed on pre-cut sheets using an inkjet, 12 colour Giclée print process, providing in-depth reproduction of colours and fine details. The details of the paper are 290 gsm, 90% bamboo fibres, 10% cotton, natural white, without optical brighteners. This gives the paper a soft, lightly textured felt structure. The printing is matt premium inkjet coating for outstanding print results, it is acid and lignin-free, and ISO 9706 conform / museum quality for highest age resistance.
Our mission statement to support up and coming and growing artists is realised through our process of art print distribution, and we always ensure the artists happiness and absolute satisfaction with the outcome of our prints against their original work. We will cover this in more detail on our next blog post!
