This poster for the 1st ever Cannes International Film Festival in 1946, held from September 20th to October 5th in Cannes, France. The beautiful design was created by the iconic French poster artist Paul Colin and is vibrant in colour, depicting a figure pointing and shooting a film camera with the various competing countries flags making up the film reel.
This was the first ever Cannes Film Festival, beginning one year after the end of World War II, and saw quite a few mishaps throughout the event between the 21 partaking countries. The now iconic festival had many legendary directors display their films at the inaugural event, such as David Lean, Jean Cocteau, Billy Wilder and Alfred Hitchcock. This alternative design poster is in fantastic mint condition and backed on museum quality linen to ensure its preservation for the decades to come.
Framing Options
Framed posters come with a timeless made to measure custom frame available in black, white or natural oak colour. Each frame is made from high quality solid oak and the artwork is available to be framed with or without a surrounding white mount to make the poster stand out even more. Our frames are custom built to order in our UK workshop, and so we work to 7-14 working days lead time for dispatch. Please note that due to their custom nature, frames are non-refundable with the exception of if they are damaged or incorrect. The frame size is the size of the poster plus an additional 70mm on each side if including a mount.
Unframed posters are shipped to the UK next day courier delivery free of charge. Framed posters can take up to 14 working days for dispatch for the frame to be built and poster to be framed. International shipping for unframed posters is £25 . International shipping for framed posters is a charge of £125 as a flat rate up to US One-Sheet (27 x 40”) size
