Originally released in 1940, "Fantasia" is Walt Disney’s groundbreaking animated concert feature, combining classical music conducted by Leopold Stokowski with a series of ambitious visual interpretations. Its celebrated sequences include Mickey Mouse in "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice", the abstract imagery of Bach’s "Toccata and Fugue", and the dramatic contrast of "Night on Bald Mountain" and "Ave Maria".
Although its initial release was commercially challenging, "Fantasia" was later recognised as a landmark in animation, sound recording and cinematic experimentation. It has become one of Disney’s most influential films, was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry, and continues to be celebrated for the scale and originality of its artistic vision.
This original 1998 US one-sheet was created as Disney Channel promotional material for a television presentation of the film rather than for its original theatrical release. Featuring iconic imagery associated with Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice, it is in excellent condition.
