Released in 1972, "Napoleon and Samantha" is a Walt Disney adventure drama directed by Bernard McEveety and starring Johnny Whitaker, Jodie Foster, Michael Douglas and Will Geer. The story follows two children who set out across the Oregon wilderness with a tame lion after Napoleon fears he will be placed in an orphanage following his grandfather’s death.
The film is particularly notable as Jodie Foster’s feature-film debut and for an early appearance by Michael Douglas. Buddy Baker’s score received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Dramatic Score, while the rugged Oregon locations and unusual animal-centred story have helped the picture retain a devoted following among Disney enthusiasts.
This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s original 1972 theatrical release by Buena Vista Distribution.
