The Legend of the Boy and the Eagle

Released in 1967, "The Legend of the Boy and the Eagle" is a Walt Disney live-action featurette directed and written by wildlife filmmaker Jack Couffer. Stanford Lomakema stars as a young Hopi boy who defies tribal law by freeing a sacred eagle, leading to his banishment and a difficult journey through the wilderness.

Running approximately forty-eight minutes, the film combines dramatic storytelling with striking natural photography and Native American legend. Its unusual tone and spiritual conclusion distinguish it from Disney’s more conventional family adventures, while editor Verna Fields would later become celebrated for her Academy Award-winning work on "Jaws".

This original US one-sheet was issued for the featurette’s 1967 theatrical presentation by Buena Vista Distribution. The evocative artwork reflects the film’s desert setting and symbolic relationship between the boy and the eagle.
