Released in 1974, "The Midnight Man" is a neo-noir mystery co-directed by Burt Lancaster and Roland Kibbee. Lancaster stars as Jim Slade, a former Chicago policeman released from prison and employed as a night watchman at a small Southern college. When a student is murdered, Slade begins an unofficial investigation that uncovers blackmail, family secrets and institutional corruption.
Based on David Anthony’s novel "The Midnight Lady and the Mourning Man", the film combines an intricate whodunit with the melancholy atmosphere of 1970s crime cinema. Lancaster also co-wrote and produced the picture, making it one of only two films he directed. The supporting cast includes Susan Clark, Cameron Mitchell, Harris Yulin and Catherine Bach in her first screen appearance.
This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s 1974 theatrical release by Universal Pictures.
