Released in 1965, "The Monkey’s Uncle" is a Walt Disney campus comedy directed by Robert Stevenson and starring Tommy Kirk, Annette Funicello, Leon Ames and Arthur O’Connell. A sequel to "The Misadventures of Merlin Jones", it follows student inventor Merlin as he develops a man-powered flying machine and an unusual sleep-learning system to help save Midvale College.
The film became a box-office success and is fondly remembered for its energetic combination of teenage comedy, science-fiction gadgets and collegiate hijinks. Annette Funicello performs the Sherman Brothers’ title song with backing vocals from the Beach Boys, giving the picture an added connection to 1960s pop culture.
This original US one-sheet is dated 1964 and was produced in advance of the film’s 1965 theatrical release. Featuring colourful artwork built around Merlin’s inventions and the comic cast, it is presented in Very Good condition as an authentic vintage Disney collectible.
