True Life Adventure the African Lion

Originally released in 1955, "The African Lion" is a Walt Disney True-Life Adventure documentary directed by James Algar. Filmed over several years in Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika by wildlife photographers Alfred and Elma Milotte, the film observes lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinoceroses and other animals within the landscapes of East Africa.

The documentary continued the success of Disney’s pioneering True-Life Adventures series and was praised for bringing audiences unusually intimate views of African wildlife. Its patient location photography and narrative construction helped shape the popular nature-film tradition that Disney had established with "The Living Desert" and "The Vanishing Prairie".

This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s 1975 theatrical re-release as part of Disney’s renewed presentation of its classic wildlife features. With dramatic artwork celebrating the majesty of the lion and the African landscape, the poster is an authentic True-Life Adventure collectible.
