The first games after World War II and Great Britains first time hosting, the 1948 Olympic Games were held in London between 29th July to 14th August. The United States won the games with the most golds.
This iconic design by Walter Herz depicts the Discobolus statue of ancient Greece in front of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben along with the instantly recognisable Olympic rings. Only 100,000 copies of the poster were made, with 50,000 being in Double Royal, 25,000 in Double Crown and 25,000 Crown format which this one is.
This exceptionally rare poster is in fantastic unrestored condition and has vibrant colour.

Each frame is made from high quality solid oak and the artwork is available to be framed with or without a surrounding white mount to make the poster stand out even more. Our frames are custom built to order in our UK workshop, and so we work to 7-14 working days lead time for dispatch. Please note that due to their custom nature, frames are non-refundable with the exception of if they are damaged or incorrect. The frame size is the size of the poster plus an additional 70mm on each side if including a mount.
Unframed posters are shipped to the UK next day courier delivery free of charge. Framed posters can take up to 14 working days for dispatch for the frame to be built and poster to be framed. Frames are packaged and securely padded in a purpose built reinforced cardboard box. Unframed posters are packaged and securely padded in a purpose built reinforced cardboard tube.
International shipping for unframed posters is £25 . International shipping for framed posters is a charge of £125 as a flat rate up to US One-Sheet (27 x 40”) size
