Released in 1971, "Carnal Knowledge" is a provocative comedy-drama directed by Mike Nichols from a screenplay by Jules Feiffer. Jack Nicholson and Art Garfunkel star as college friends whose relationships and attitudes toward women are followed across several decades, with Candice Bergen, Ann-Margret and Rita Moreno in key roles.
The film became one of the era’s most discussed examinations of masculinity, intimacy and sexual politics. Ann-Margret received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, while the film also became the subject of a major US obscenity case that ultimately reached the Supreme Court, securing its place in both cinematic and legal history.
This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s original 1971 theatrical release by Avco Embassy Pictures.
