Featuring a wonderful portrait painting, this beautiful lithograph poster was created in 1986 to promote French artist Henri Matisse's exhibition at the Galerie Adrien Maeght. The exhibition ran from October to November 1986.
Born 1869, Matisse worked in many mediums but is known best for his painting and bold use of colour. He is widely regarded as a one of the most influential and revolutionary artists in the 20th century.
Galerie Maeght opened their Parisian gallery in 1946 after its initial formation in Cannes in 1936 and became renowned for showcasing a wide range of contemporary artists from Bacon to Matisse.
