Gorgeous poster depicting his 1952 artwork "La Tristesse du Roi", this poster was created to promote the collection of works of the great Henri Matisse at the Musee Nationale d'Art Moderne in Paris, France and was created in 1990.
Born 1869, Matisse is best known as a French artist, known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Matisse is commonly regarded as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture.
This wonderful poster is from the original exhibition promotion in 2004 and is in mint condition.
