Lenny

Released in 1974, "Lenny" is a biographical drama directed by Bob Fosse and starring Dustin Hoffman and Valerie Perrine. Shot in expressive black and white, the film traces the rise and decline of pioneering comedian Lenny Bruce, moving between his confrontational nightclub routines, turbulent marriage to Honey Bruce, battles over obscenity and the personal pressures that shaped his final years.

Adapted by Julian Barry from his Broadway play, the film earned six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. Hoffman’s intense performance became one of his most celebrated roles, while Perrine won the Best Actress award at Cannes and a BAFTA for her portrayal of Honey, cementing the film’s reputation as a major 1970s screen biography.

This original US one-sheet poster was created for the film’s original United Artists theatrical release in 1974.
