Beautiful poster created by Pablo Picasso for the Tourist Bureau to promote Cannes for national and international tourists. The popular and picturesque city on the French Riviera in the South of France hosts the Cannes Film Festival and was also home to Picasso and other artists such as Henri Matisse in the region.
With the artwork depicting birds on the ledge of a balcony overlooking scenic ocean views based on his 1957 painting "Pigeons à la Californie", this piece for "Cannes A.M" is the rarer version of the design, also used to promote the "Cote d'Azur". Printed by Mourlot in France, this piece is linen backed to ensure its preservation for the decades to come.
