Released in 1979, "Quintet" is a dystopian science-fiction drama directed by Robert Altman and starring Paul Newman, Vittorio Gassman, Fernando Rey, Bibi Andersson and Brigitte Fossey. Newman plays Essex, a seal hunter who enters a frozen city in a future ice age and discovers that its remaining inhabitants are obsessed with a lethal tournament known as Quintet.

One of Altman’s most unusual and austere films, "Quintet" replaces conventional science-fiction spectacle with a bleak meditation on mortality, ritual and social collapse. Its misted visual style, elaborate rules and enigmatic narrative divided critics on release, but the film has since developed a cult following among admirers of ambitious, unconventional 1970s cinema.

This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s 1979 theatrical release. The striking design reflects the picture’s frozen atmosphere and unsettling futuristic world.
