A dramatic ringside photograph and huge yellow title give this original 1979 poster for Rocky II its tremendous impact. The close-up action puts you straight into the fight, with the stark black background lending the design the atmosphere of a classic boxing photograph.
Sylvester Stallone returned as writer, director and star for the rematch between Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed, played by Carl Weathers. The film builds on the relationships that made the first story so compelling, bringing Rocky’s life with Adrian into the arena alongside his sporting ambitions. This poster catches the physical intensity of that return to the ring.
