One of the most iconic and sought after film posters of all time. Star Wars (retroactively titled Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope) is a 1977 American epic space opera film written and directed by George Lucas, produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by 20th Century-Fox. It stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing, Alec Guinness, David Prowse, James Earl Jones, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew. It is the first installment of the original Star Wars trilogy, the first of the franchise to be produced, and the fourth episode of the "Skywalker saga".
An all-time great and holy grail for many, this original release poster was created in 1977 for the original promotion of the film. With a design from the great Tom Jung, who is synonymous with Star Wars artwork, this poster depicts Luke & Leia in the foreground with C3-PO and R2-D2 in front of Darth Vader looming in the dark sky. The release code for this poster is 77/21.
