Collection: ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1940s POSTERS

The 1940s were an extraordinary decade for printed design. Wartime communication, post-war rebuilding, cinema, travel and commercial advertising all left their mark, and posters from the period can range from stark and practical to wonderfully escapist.

Our 1940s collection brings those different strands together through original surviving posters. We describe each example individually, including its date, format and condition, and add artist, campaign or release information where it can be reliably established.
