Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as an original food or drink advertising poster? +

It is a poster produced for the original brand, product or campaign rather than a modern decorative copy of the design. These were commercial objects first, so the issuer, printer, date and intended use can be as important as the brand name shown on the poster.

Why do food and drink posters vary so much in size? +

They were made for cafés, shops, streets, transport networks and other advertising spaces, often in country-specific formats. We do not resize originals, so dimensions vary from poster to poster and are recorded on each individual listing.

What should I look for when collecting vintage advertising posters? +

Look beyond the brand name. Artist or designer, campaign, printing, country, format and condition can make two posters for the same product very different objects. Strong food and drink posters are often collected as much for the graphic design as for the company they advertised.
