Released in 1970, "King of the Grizzlies" is a Walt Disney wilderness drama directed by Ron Kelly and based on Ernest Thompson Seton’s novel "The Biography of a Grizzly". John Yesno stars as Moki, a Cree ranch hand whose life becomes intertwined with Wahb, a powerful grizzly bear growing up in the Canadian Rockies.
The film combines family adventure with Disney’s long-standing interest in natural history and animal behaviour. Its expansive location photography, environmental themes and sympathetic treatment of the grizzly helped it become a memorable entry in the studio’s wildlife-oriented live-action catalogue, and it was later adapted for the Disney television anthology series.
This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s original 1970 theatrical release by Buena Vista Distribution.
