"An American in Paris", released in 1951 and directed by Vincente Minnelli, stars the legendary Gene Kelly as a former GI and aspiring painter navigating love and artistic ambition in postwar Paris, alongside Leslie Caron. A major critical and commercial success, the film is celebrated for its vibrant Technicolor style and groundbreaking ballet finale, winning six Academy Awards and securing its legacy as a landmark of Hollywood musicals.
This brilliant and rare poster is from the first release of the film in Poland in 1958 and features fantastic artwork from the iconic Polish artist Waldemar Swierzy. The unique artwork is typical of the wonderful and sought after alternative design of many Polish film posters through the 20th century. The poster is in excellent unrestored condition.
