This colourful art poster reproduces Diego Rivera's celebrated mural Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in the Alameda Central. Bringing together figures from Mexican history in a richly detailed procession, the image shows the artist's wonderful ability to combine public history with a dreamlike narrative. The printing date of this offset reproduction is unconfirmed.
Diego Rivera was one of Mexico's most important mural painters, using public art to explore the country's history, society and cultural identity. His large, densely populated compositions bring together historical figures and everyday life with wonderful colour and narrative detail.
