Mean Streets

Released in 1973, "Mean Streets" marked Martin Scorsese's first feature film of his own. The classic starred Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel struggling through the New York underworld and was a critical and commercial success.

This brilliant poster designed by Joe Caroff is one of the most iconic designs of 20th century cinema, featuring a wonderful stylised smoking gun in hand in front of the city skyline. This wonderful piece of cinema advertising history is from the original promotion of the film in the US in 1973 and is the rarer monochrome version of the famous design.
