In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Salvador Dali was commissioned to create a series of posters for the French Railway SNCF. The series included a number of city destinations, including this piece for Normandie.
The beautiful poster features landmarks from Normandie as well as the trademark Dali stylisation
Mont-Saint-Michel appears twice, as a floating island borne by butterflies and as a silhouette cut through the draped central form. A truly wonderful piece of art and travel history.
