Peeper

Released in 1975, "Peeper" is a comedy mystery directed by Peter Hyams and starring Michael Caine, Natalie Wood, Kitty Winn and Michael Constantine. Caine plays Leslie C. Tucker, a good-natured but inept private detective hired to locate a long-lost heiress, only to become entangled in a convoluted investigation involving a wealthy family, competing suspects and repeated attempts on his life.

Adapted from Keith Laumer’s novel "Deadfall", the film was conceived as a playful send-up of 1940s private-eye pictures. Its period setting, knowing narration and deliberately exaggerated noir conventions create an unusual mixture of detective story and broad comedy. Though unsuccessful on its original release, it has attracted later interest for its cast and as an early directorial work by Hyams.

This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s 1975 theatrical release by 20th Century Fox.
