The Great Escape was released in 1963, directed by John Sturges and based on Paul Brickhill's account of the mass escape from Stalag Luft III. Its ensemble cast includes Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson and James Coburn, and the film has become one of the best-known Second World War films of its era.
This original US One-Sheet was produced for the film's 1980 re-release and features Frank McCarthy's artwork, bringing together key characters and moments from the escape. The poster is linen backed with only very light restoration and remains in near mint condition.
