Released in 1979, "The Seduction of Joe Tynan" is a political drama directed by Jerry Schatzberg, written by Alan Alda and starring Alda alongside Barbara Harris, Meryl Streep, Rip Torn and Melvyn Douglas. Alda plays a respected liberal senator whose growing national profile and involvement with an ambitious Washington lawyer threaten both his principles and his marriage.
The film was praised for treating political ambition, private compromise and marital strain with intelligence and restraint. It provided Meryl Streep with an important early screen role during her breakthrough period, and her performance contributed to supporting-actress honours from the National Board of Review, the National Society of Film Critics and the New York Film Critics Circle in 1979.
This original US one-sheet poster was issued for the film’s original theatrical release by Universal Pictures.
