Frequently Asked Questions

Does framing an original poster affect its value or condition? +

Good framing should protect the poster without permanently altering it. Reversible mounting, suitable backing materials and appropriate glazing matter more than making an original look artificially perfect. We favour framing methods that allow the poster to remain an original piece of paper rather than becoming part of the frame.

Should an original poster be framed with a mount? +

It is largely an aesthetic choice and can depend on the poster's proportions and condition. A mount can give the artwork breathing room, while framing to the edge can suit bold cinema and graphic posters. The important part is that the materials and method are appropriate for original paper.

Can folded or linen-backed posters be framed? +

Yes. Historic folds are common on many cinema formats and do not prevent framing. Linen-backed posters are already supported by a conservation backing and can also be framed. The best approach depends on the size, paper and condition of the individual poster.

Are the posters resized to fit standard frames? +

No. These are original posters and remain at the size in which they were produced. Framing is made around the individual piece rather than trimming or resizing the artwork. Exact poster dimensions and available framing options are shown on the relevant listing.
