The Little Ones

Released in 1965, "The Little Ones" is a British family drama written and directed by Jim O’Connolly and starring Carl Gonzales, Kim Smith, Dudley Foster and Derek Newark. The story follows two neglected London boys who run away toward Liverpool, hoping to stow away on a ship bound for Jamaica, but their journey brings hunger, theft and an encounter with the police.

Produced on a modest scale, the film is valued for its sincere treatment of childhood hardship and for its extensive location photography in London and Liverpool. Contemporary reviewers noted the natural performances of its young leads and the picture’s blend of humour, social observation and atmosphere. It remains an uncommon example of British children’s cinema engaging directly with poverty and difficult family circumstances.

This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s American theatrical presentation and is folded as issued in excellent condition.
