The harbour, packed grandstands and racing cars bring Monaco to life in this design by Maestri for the 1969 Grand Prix. The photographic view gives a wonderful sense of the circuit’s extraordinary setting, with the race unfolding against the buildings and yachts of the principality. This is a later printing from the 1970s of the 1969 design.
Monaco’s narrow streets have made it one of motor racing’s most distinctive challenges. Graham Hill won the 1969 race for Lotus-Ford, adding another victory to the record that earned him the nickname Mr Monaco. The poster captures the atmosphere around the event as much as the cars themselves, making it a lovely piece for lovers of historic Formula One.
