Beautiful poster for the 5th New York Film Festival, held between September 20th to 30th 1967 at the Philharmonic Hall at Lincoln Center.
This extremely rare piece was produced in 1967 as a limited edition of 500 silkscreens designed as a ticket stub for the event by the legendary Andy Warhol. The leading figure in the pop art movement, Andy Warhol's work continues to pose questions about the line between art, advertising, celebrity. This piece, printed on heavy stock paper with metallic silver features, is from the 2001 edition for the Martini Art Gallery and is linen backed to ensure its preservation for the decades to come.
The festival featured films by the likes of Jean-Luc Godard and Masaki Kobayashi, and this very rare and vibrant piece is in fantastic condition.
