Held on March 23, 1998, the 70th Academy Awards celebrated the films of 1997, with Billy Crystal returning as host. The Best Picture nominees were "Titanic", "As Good as It Gets", "The Full Monty", "Good Will Hunting" and "L.A. Confidential", representing one of the most memorable and commercially successful awards seasons of the decade.
"Titanic" dominated the ceremony with eleven wins from fourteen nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for James Cameron, tying the record previously established by "Ben-Hur". The evening also brought acting wins for Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Robin Williams and Kim Basinger, and remains closely associated with the extraordinary cultural impact of Cameron’s epic.
This original 1998 US one-sheet was produced as official Academy Awards promotional material highlighting the Best Picture field. An authentic piece of Oscars history from a landmark ceremony.
