This wonderful poster was created for Hommage à Tériade: French Graphic Art at the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 1975. Featuring Henri Matisse's The Sword Swallower from his celebrated 1947 book Jazz, the exhibition honoured the publisher Tériade and his collaborations with some of the great artists of the twentieth century.
Born in 1869, Henri Matisse became one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. Known for his wonderful use of colour, expressive drawing and later paper cut-outs, his work helped transform the way modern artists approached painting and composition.
