Released in 1997, "Kundun" is Martin Scorsese’s sweeping biographical drama about the early life of the 14th Dalai Lama. Written by Melissa Mathison and starring Tenzin Thuthob Tsarong as the adult spiritual leader, the film follows his recognition as a child, his religious education and the escalating political crisis that ultimately forces him to flee Tibet.

Celebrated for Roger Deakins’ luminous cinematography, Philip Glass’s score and Scorsese’s contemplative direction, "Kundun" received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Cinematography, Art Direction, Costume Design and Original Score. It remains one of Scorsese’s most visually distinctive and spiritually searching works.

This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s original 1997 theatrical release. Framing Options
