Wag the Dog

Released in 1997, "Wag the Dog" is a sharp political satire directed by Barry Levinson and starring Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Anne Heche. When a presidential scandal threatens to erupt shortly before an election, a Washington spin doctor recruits a flamboyant Hollywood producer to fabricate a war and redirect public attention.

Written by Hilary Henkin and David Mamet, the film became famous for the unsettling plausibility of its media manipulation and manufactured patriotism. Hoffman received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, while the screenplay was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, helping establish the film as an enduring modern political satire.

This original US one-sheet was produced for the film’s original 1997 theatrical release by New Line Cinema.
