The Great Mouse Detective (Belgian)

Released in 1986, "The Great Mouse Detective" is a Walt Disney animated mystery adventure directed by John Musker, Ron Clements, Dave Michener and Burny Mattinson. Inspired by Eve Titus’s "Basil of Baker Street" books, it follows brilliant mouse detective Basil and Dr. Dawson as they help young Olivia Flaversham rescue her father from the criminal mastermind Professor Ratigan, memorably voiced by Vincent Price.

The film was a critical and commercial success after the disappointment of "The Black Cauldron" and is widely credited with restoring confidence in Disney’s animation department. Its energetic storytelling, inventive Big Ben climax and charismatic villain helped point the way toward the Disney Renaissance, while Henry Mancini’s score adds a distinctive musical identity.

This piece was issued for the film’s 1986 theatrical release in Belgium and features colourful artwork centred on Basil, Olivia and Ratigan.
