This original 2002 poster was produced for a museum presentation of Gerhard Richter's work at the Dallas Museum of Art. Featuring the Munich image from his City Pictures series, the design turns the aerial city view into a striking arrangement of light and dark shapes, showing the artist's interest in the relationship between photographic detail and abstraction.
Gerhard Richter's work moves between photographic imagery and abstraction, often questioning how much we can trust what an image appears to show. His varied approach has made him one of the most important and widely collected painters of the post-war period.
