This beautiful 1987 poster reproduces Henri Matisse's Nasturtiums and Dance from the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection. The colourful image brings together a pot of flowers and the dancers beyond, creating a wonderful conversation between still life, interior and movement. It is a later offset reproduction of the painting.
Born in 1869, Henri Matisse became one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. Known for his wonderful use of colour, expressive drawing and later paper cut-outs, his work helped transform the way modern artists approached painting and composition.
