This beautiful 2015 screenprinted reproduction features Henri Matisse's The Bush. The small square composition uses a lively network of lines to describe the plant, showing the artist's continuing interest in the shapes and rhythms of the natural world. It is a later printed edition of the earlier artwork.
Born in 1869, Henri Matisse became one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. Known for his wonderful use of colour, expressive drawing and later paper cut-outs, his work helped transform the way modern artists approached painting and composition.
