This original 1974 poster was designed by Jean-Michel Folon for Alain Didier-Weill's play P.O.L. at the Festival d'Automne in Paris. The wonderful screenprinted design features a solitary figure against a colourful horizon, with the large lettering forming part of the landscape. A brilliant example of Folon's imaginative work for the theatre.
Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon became widely known for his poetic illustrations, watercolours and posters. His solitary figures, broad horizons and imaginative use of scale gave his work a distinctive character, bringing a gentle but often thought-provoking atmosphere to commercial and cultural commissions.
