This original screenprinted poster was created by Robert Indiana to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of New York City Center in 1968. The bold design places the number 25 at the centre of a star-filled composition, with radiating lines and bright lettering giving the piece a wonderfully celebratory feel.
Robert Indiana was one of the leading artists associated with American Pop Art, best known for his bold use of words, numbers and bright colour. His graphic compositions take inspiration from the visual language of American signs and turn simple forms into memorable images.
