Released in Italy in 1968 and in the United States in 1969, "The Sweet Body of Deborah" is a psychological thriller directed by Romolo Guerrieri and starring Carroll Baker, Jean Sorel, Evelyn Stewart and George Hilton. The story follows newlyweds Deborah and Marcel as threatening encounters with figures from Marcel’s past draw them into a web of guilt, deception and murder.
Combining mystery, eroticism and glamorous European locations, the film is an important early example of the style that would become closely associated with the Italian giallo. Nora Orlandi’s atmospheric score and Baker’s central performance helped establish a formula of sexual intrigue, shifting identities and elaborate plotting that influenced many later thrillers.
This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s 1969 American theatrical release.
