Vasaloppet is Sweden's famous long-distance cross-country ski race, running between Sälen and Mora and inspired by the journey associated with Gustav Vasa in 1521. First held in 1922, the 1972 event marked 50 years since the race was established.
Gosta Almquist's poster shows a skier accompanied by the spirit of Vasa. This example remains in mint condition and has been backed on linen for preservation.
