Featuring the wonderful Art Deco design by A.M. Cassandre, this Statendam poster celebrates the Holland-America Line ocean liner through bold shapes and striking typography. The funnel and rising smoke dominate the composition, giving the image an unmistakable sense of modern travel. This is a 1995 lithographic reproduction printed by Atelier Mourlot.
A.M. Cassandre was one of the great graphic designers of the Art Deco period. His advertising brought together bold geometry, carefully drawn lettering and striking changes of scale, creating some of the most recognisable travel and commercial posters of the twentieth century.
