The vivid blue wall, bright yellow title and lively cast portraits make this original 1989 poster for Do the Right Thing a wonderful expression of the film’s neighbourhood energy. Produced in the large American subway format, the design has the scale and colour to make its Brooklyn setting feel immediate.
Spike Lee’s film follows a community through one intensely hot summer day, allowing humour, friendship and simmering tensions to share the same streets. Lee’s Mookie, Danny Aiello’s Sal and an unforgettable ensemble give the story its rich texture. The extra-large subway poster celebrates those personalities while hinting at the heat and urgency that drive the film.
