- Two tiny tears at the upper right edge, with light wear along approximately four inches of the lower right edge.
Bright, playful lettering and a close grouping of the cast give this original 1986 poster for She’s Gotta Have It a wonderfully fresh personality. The design captures the wit and energy of Spike Lee’s debut feature, with Tracy Camilla Johns’ Nola Darling at the centre of its Brooklyn story.
Made on a small budget, the film announced Lee as a distinctive new voice in American independent cinema. Nola’s relationships with three very different men unfold through a mix of comedy, direct address and vivid neighbourhood detail. The poster’s informal, colourful approach feels perfectly suited to a film that made such a confident first impression.
