Released in 1989, "Fat Man and Little Boy" is a historical drama directed by Roland Joffé and starring Paul Newman, Dwight Schultz, Bonnie Bedelia, John Cusack and Laura Dern. Set during the Second World War, the film dramatises the Manhattan Project and the tense relationship between military commander General Leslie Groves and physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer as they race to develop the first atomic bomb.
Also released in some territories as "Shadow Makers", the film examines the scientific, political and moral conflicts surrounding the creation of nuclear weapons. Ennio Morricone composed the score, while Newman’s commanding performance and the production’s serious treatment of responsibility and secrecy give it enduring interest as a dramatization of a pivotal moment in modern history.
This original US one-sheet was issued for the film’s 1989 theatrical release.
